The Gift Of Persuasion How To Influence Others By Being A Better You edition by Dallas Rivers Religion Spirituality eBooks
"The Gift of Persuasion" by Dallas Rivers contains many useful tips we can all use to persuade people to do things––whether to buy what we're selling, to hire us or give us a raise, or whatever else we want to motivate others to do. In writing this book Rivers joins a long line of authors who have written on this topic and, based on their own success, are willing to share their secrets with others. As someone who has built successful businesses marketing products, Rivers speaks with some authority. The book is divided into fourteen chapters, each of which describes an element necessary to success. Some of these elements are: The Power of Packaging, Sales Persuasion Secrets that Work, The Bold are Persuasive, The Power of Story, Make a Living Out of Giving, Interviewing Success Secrets, Marketing Yourself to Persuade Others, The Secret of Getting People to Like You, and others. Each chapter contains numerous practical examples and stories to clarify the main point. At the end of each chapter is a summary of what to do and what not to do.
Over the past 30 years or so I have read quite a few motivational books that are similar to "The Gift of Persuasion." Some are very good, some not so good. Rivers' book is good. However, much of what he says can be found in other books of the same genre, and there is little that makes this book unique or one that stands out from the rest. This is one reason why I have not given this book five stars.
The other reason involves a trend that has become increasingly common in this day of e-publishing and other self-publishing outlets (such as Create Space). And that is the obvious lack of a final edit by a skilled copy editor. Like many other books that I have received for review purposes, "The Gift of Persuasion," while for the most part it is grammatical and relatively free of typos, contains a significant number of misplaced commas (or lack of commas where one is needed) as well as a lack of understanding as to when compound words should or shouldn't be hyphenated. Problems of this sort cause the reader to stumble and necessitate rereading the sentence to grasp its meaning. Had this book been given a proper edit I might have been willing to give it five stars.

This book is a must have. It is comfortable reading with great real life examples. Any student, job seeker, or employee can set their own stategy for a positive change. The change begins with you, you have all the power to make success happen. That is the beauty of it. You are not waiting for the economy to get better, your boss to decide if you get a raise, etc. It is a positive book. Your confidence and self respect will grow. No matter what your goals this book will help you. I am already using the principles I learned in my daily life.
This book is amazing. Once I began reading it I couldn't put it down. It's full of practical, applicable help and advice. The author is tremendously insightful. It is definitely one many will be able to learn from. He shares with us real situations that offers positive ways to improve ourselves and influence others. From the very first page I was glad someone recommended this book to me..and now I pass this opportunity to you. Enjoy !
I ordered the book because I'm uncomfortable with sales and don't want to be one of those "sleezy" sales people. This book gives you real life suggestions you can use everyday to influence others and still live with integrity. He also share strategies on how to become better from the inside out. Well worth the $20 bucks for the hard copy....an absolute steal for the kindle version. Enjoy!
Really really HQ book... It's been a while since I read a book like this! Dallas Rivers is definitely on my Top Authors list now! Very knowledgable!
Being under pressure at work to make more sales has been stressing me out, i've always felt awkward about "forcing" my product onto them. After reading this wonderful book and implementing the tips inside, i have found that in most cases, as long as the product fits their needs, the client doesn't mind hearing about new products available! Being able to read and respond accurately to people in an invaluable skill, this has been a huge boost to my self confidence, thank you Dallas Rivers!
Most people believe that they either are persuasive or they aren’t. In the Gift of Persuasion, Dallas Rivers shows that’s not the case.
While many people think persuasion is something reserved for top salesmen or secret agents, we actually use persuasion in our everyday lives. Whether it’s having a friend help you move, or trying to get ahead of someone in line at the grocery store, persuasion is an essential life skill.
Oftentimes books like this are filled with a lot of theory and not enough concrete advice; that wasn’t the case with this book. Dallas uses numerous anecdotes about his life such as the time he accessed a secure building without having proper access to show the importance of looking good.
These anecdotes are not only helpful in making his points clear, but it helps to create a tone that is fun and meaningful. When reading this book it is clear that Dallas Rivers clearly wants to help his readers succeed. This book would be a great addition to include to anyone's library.
